Helllo,
I am looking at two trucks both are not very expensive.
2019 LT625 x15 2.64 rears 532k miles
or
2016 Volvo 670 2.47 rear 461k miles
I will be hauling containers localish out a local rail yard.
But on the flip side if the contract with this compaines tanks I want to run to Landstar and run flatbed.
What truck is good?
I had a LT a couple years ago and had Zero issues with it. My buddy has a volvo d13 760 and never had a motor issue its all been stupid things happening just from living in the SNOWY upstate ny 7 months a year..
whats everyone opinon??
Let me know thanks .

That X15 is likely nearing a rebuild at that mileage.

If I was paying cash today for a truck I would get something pre-emissions.
All the new trucks with emissions intact beyond 500K are basically trash from day 1.Opendeckin Thanks this. -
Fuel mileage on a pre-emissions unit will suffer compared to a good clean newer truck.

True
But it balances out when you you don’t have so much downtime lost revenue and repair bills for the emission garbage .
if I ever got back into trucking I’d get one old enough that didn’t have ANY computers on it ,
A big cam Cummins or 3406B with mechanical injection pump . -
You don't think a 20 year old truck won't have problems either?
How about parts availability? -
I own a 1989 Western Star with a 3406 B, just overhauled it, and parts were very easy to get. I will say though, if you buy a truck as old as mine, a Kenworth or a Peterbilt are even easier, very easy in fact, to get parts for, and ANY mechanic worthy of the name will work on one. Except a dealer, and who uses them anyway?
Trucker42BC and Oxbow Thank this. -
Has anyone really driven a new truck with def and egr past these miles? Or are they just parroting things heard around the truck stop?? I bounce between a first generation cascadia with 625K and a 2019 with 501K and both are solid trucks, I prefer the first gen because it’s a ten speed.
Crude Truckin' Thanks this.
