Why wouldn’t I enjoy it? They’re business owners who are playing by the rules. Paying taxes like the rest of us. And most that I’ve talked to that jumped through all the hoops to be in this country legally aren’t all that impressed that our southern border is now wide open for any and all to walk across.

Ok so reading comprehension is not your strong point, no where did I say I get 7mpg pulling only vans, if I pull just vans I'm lucky to hit 6.5 and thats 40-45 in the box both ways, we won't get into hills since I am mainly in North Dakota and Western Minnesota, but the wind can be ridiculous, lets take tonight for about 1/2 my 560 miles the wind was cutting straight across me and was strong enough to shake the road signs, I had one flat loaded with racks for steel for 1/2 that were sitting about 1-2 feet underneath a van height, on the way back I had steel low to the deck that weighed 42. The "hood" of my truck did not help me or significantly hurt me, the most aero truck in the world would have maybe made a 1/4mpg better than I did with mine (84 gallons on 560 miles 130 miles van the rest flatbed). That is what I was saying I've also seen the same thing with vans in that wind, I have driven everything from Cascadias to Volvos up there and the wind will knock them all the way down into the 4's in the winter also, the worst mileage I have gotten in my 379 was 3.9 one trip that was a trip I wouldn't have taken but they needed to get parts up to keep a line open so I took it. How the truck is set up is far more significant then the hood, there is one of the guys that has a next gen t680 that does the same run x15 at 500 and 13 speed with 3.26 gears, he averages under 7 all miles, if that truck was set up better he should be in the 8's but since he is kinda old school and set the truck up wrong in my opinion he is around 6-7. o sit there and say that my hood costs me 1 mpg is ridiculous, I have ran alot of trucks and the hood itself is maybe .25 mpg, now the fact that is a flat top and I get stuck pulling vans, that costs me a heel of alot more than the hood. If I took all the mechanicals out of my truck and put them in a 386 which is the only aero I would think about running I would be pissed if I wasn't well over 8 all miles, but according to everyhting I hear from this forum you need an aero with any thing besides a cat motor, if you set up the most aero truck in the world wrong, it is still going to get crap for mileage, how your truck is set up is far more important than the aerodynamics. For the record my truck is a c15 with an 18spd and 2.74 gears originally it was a 15spd and 3.55 gears I was around 4.5 with that setup, Most of the hood trucks you see are not set up to get mileage, if they are pulling vans they are set up completely wrong and weren't really meant for that work.

That is funny, made me chuckle. Really don't care what I drive as long as I make enough for my wife and I.

The pattern I see with every one of these discussions is, I know a friend who got caught or a friend of a friend…nobody on these threads have said I got caught and this is how I got caught and this is what it cost me.
Basically, nobody cares. Some dealerships won’t work on them. For every shop that won’t there are 10 that will. I know several guys that do the deletes and out of all of them and over the years, they don’t personally know anyone who has gotten caught. I’m just glad we’re in older trucks and glider kits so doesn’t affect me either way.Vitkouski, broke down plumber, JoeyJunk and 4 others Thank this.
