Did you explain that to them like you were talking to a 6 year old?

How much time will you have once the trailer is done?

What is the penalty for being late?

We all know that being late to Walmart in this situation basically means the carrier hauled the load for free. However, I know we have loads that are "line shut down", ie if the load isn't there we shut down an entire production plant. About 10 years ago I got pulled in on a load save for a shipment of tires to a Chrysler plant. Qualcomm blew up with "stop as soon as you can and call in", I call get the instructions and am told to message in both my eta to Chrysler and where I was going to overnight as they may try and repower again. I was able to make the OTD, but if we were late we'd be fined something like $200/hr for the first 6 hours and $1,000 an hour after that. I don't remember the actual numbers, but they shocked me.

Outside of this load, would there be repercussions? This load being late might be the straw that breaks the camel's back and costs the carrier the lane or the entire account. Sometimes extreme over reactions might be warranted.

You're right. A team has no advantage over a solo driver in this instance, assuming the solo driver knows how to hustle.
My 70 MPH truck has covered 497 miles in 7 hrs. 40 min. with metro San Antonio to traverse.

Dale thompson, dwells40 and UturnGirl Thank this.

...point being it can be done without requiring a 30 minute break. Forgot to ask what you're governed at?

    Dale thompson Thanks this.

70 mph speedlimiter. Yes, you have a point about the 1/2 hr break. Prolly won't have to take it tho. Going from Lufkin to laredo and it's a weekend so city traffic won't be bad

This is an important customer. However, the driver that relayed this load to yard where I picked it up dropped it with a flat tire, 2 midship lights not staying solid in pigtails and a top clearance lite I can't reach without a ladder. So, yesterday morning when I picked up the trailer, I put it in our shop for tires n lites. Last night on 59 my trailer got suddenly dark!! So parked it nearest until daylight, then took a chance and drove to loves, and here I sit.

Having said all that... if they want to send a team, I'm fine with it. I will end up stuck I laredo tomorrow if I deliver this so either way I'm not making any money.
