Last week I got hold of a 03 t800 with the c15 bridge engine set at 475, 13spd and 3.55's, and goodness does that engine suck. I averaged around 4.5 mpg with 23K on a dry van from Milwaukee to Texarkana. I just wanna ask what i need to do in order to get better fuel economy. I heard several things from removing the silencers which i plan to take off this weekend to the fuel wire or a 150 ohm resistor. There's a guy in effingham by the petro exit 160 has anyone heard of him he said he'll charge me $150 to set the hp to 550 and i'll be getting around .5 to 1 mpg more i just don't know where to start. Thanks in advance for your help
Need help with my MBN

Instead of wasting your money on the Diesel Doctor in Effingham, IL spend a little extra and get a tuned ECM from PDI or a Bully Dog Downloader. These are way better than anything the Diesel Doctor can do. I'm pretty sure he is just flashing normal CAT files into the ECM (if he is even doing that much), the normal CAT files won't do much for ya.
Big Duker Thanks this. -
ok sounds great, do you know how much the bully dog runs for and what gains should i expect?
-
If you can get it done for $150 id say go for it cause a bully dog or PDI will cost you WAY more! Don't know about everyone else but money is TIGHT here and the 550 program will help a bit. If he can flash it make sure u get him to put in some good fuel numbers as well.
-
what are some good numbers ? My w9 has the 2ws with 58's and the previous owner had the ecm custom built and i'm in love with the truck but i have no idea which codes he used
-
I also have a 2WS nothing special in the ecm just a 600 7CZ file and the FLS/FTS set at 127FLS 0FTS. No reason you couldn't put that into your MBN u drive it easy and you won't hurt nothing. The only thing you have to watch with the MBNs when you reflash them is overspeeding the turbo. When you reflash them you aren't using the wastegate on it anymore cause they are ecm controlled thats why you see the line from the wastegate run around to the back of the motor to behind the fuel block i believe and thats the valve that it uses to control it I guess electronically through the ecm. Other then that your good to go. Oh ya and make sure if you get that guy to flash it to a 550 its not another MBN file or it might just be a waste since u prob won't pickup much mpgs with it. Even if you flash it to a straight 475 2WS or 6NZ file you will be better off then with the stock MBN

for $150 I won't even fire up the laptop for much more than trim codes changes. Whoever is charging this amount..........this is all their probably doing.
You can flash to a 7CZ or 6NZ file with the proper software for some very nice power and fuel mileage gains. If you want to reflash to one of these programs, you can PM a moderator to get in touch with me and I'll guarantee you'll get exactly what I telling you I'm doing with a print out of the before and after settings -
There is another diesel doctor in Troy IL who will flash it to a 550 for 100 buck I've heard good thing but I never tried them since I already have a 550.

What if I push the power button for you, will you do it for $150 then? :smt064
