I commend you for looking around at load boards to see if the freight rates compute in your business plan, before you go out and buy a truck and jump in the deep end with both feet. Contracts are likely better, but who knows, the spot market might pay the bills?
I assume you have secured quotes for insurance? I am certain the quotes took your breath away, as a new driver starting out with a greenfield company. Or did you wisely find a potential experienced motor carrier number that you can purchase, to avoid the heartache of paying the insurance rates as a new company?
I am keen to watch your progress, and please keep us posted as to your progress on starting out. This career can be rewarding, but not always fruitful. You have more fortitude than I have to start out owning your own company to start out new in the industry. I chose to work for an established company and learned the ropes of this industry as a paid employee, and not an owner.
Keep us posted as to how your journey unfolds and good luck and best wishes driver.
