Hello. I have a 1993 Peterbilt 379 with 3406C Cat converted to a B model. It has been setting for a few years as it's been a project truck. Its got new batteries and new battery cables on it... tried to start it and it wouldn't even grunt. Check starter? Solenoid? Solenoid relay??? Thanks in advance.

Last Call, AModelCat, LoneRanger and 1 other person Thank this. -
Did you bypass the switch and use a hot jump wire to the solenoid and/or starter motor?
-
You mean to see if the engine is locked up?LoneRanger, Flat Earth Trucker, Diesel Dave and 1 other person Thank this.

No I just hooked up the batteries the normal way. I'm not a very good mechanic and have had a very hard time getting a mobile mechanic to show up...

Does the starter even click? Or try to start it?
Big Road Skateboard Thanks this. -
Nope, no sound at all. The lights on the dash come on though.

If the starter ain’t making sounds, then that’s your first spot to look into. Wires might be cut, eaten through, or even disconnected. Also fuses pulled. Many issues.
even a seized motor doesn’t stop the starter from trying to engage.Big Road Skateboard and wjhuskey Thank this.
