The one time in ten years on the road that I ate at a 'mom and pop' truck stop I got sick.
I am pretty sure it was in KY or Tenn. and named after Daniel Boone or some other frontier hero. I should have known better, even then my rule was to eat a very limited menu in rotation over and over again.

As for Jims in Buffalo, I used to work out of a terminal very close to there.
They used to tell us to scale our loads at Jims. But I worked
there three years and never once pulled into or even rolled by Jims.
I like the IDEA of supporting small independent business
but keeping a familar routine and knowing what I am getting
when I go to a place trumps that.
When I first started out I would visit the odd small truck stop
and they were usually, unfortunately, dumps. Now I avoid them entirely.

Osseo Wisconsin, I-94 exit 88. TA Express in process of paving the lot . Moon craters and trenches are gone. Same great restaurant with friendly attentive waitresses.

Uh-oh. I would expect that TA Express to start charging for parking to recoup the cost of paving the lot, among other things.

Clearwater Travel Plaza, I-94 x178 (MN 24) Clearwater, MN.

Nelson Brothers Restaurant and Bakery on site, good food and the biggest donuts and cinnamon rolls you've ever seen.

Good parking lot, #1 diesel available at the pumps year round.
(It was available last year, anyway)....

Sadly, this is what it is coming to.
Drivers eating their own food in the truck, buying their fuel at a Loves or Pilot then parking at the Mom and Pop. And if the driver does go into the truck stop, it is to only use the restroom.
They have to recoup the cost somewhere, so paid parking is the last option.

    navypoppop and Oxbow Thank this.
