This says that you need a driver’s license for at least two years..I’m not going to say that it’s a fact because I’m a little skeptical..maybe someone else can chime in.

I do meet all of the above just not the driver's license. I looked through the regulations and found nothing but it would make sense for insurance reasons, unless they'll overlook it because of my age. Kinda sucks to hear because years I'm working elsewhere is years I'm not gaining experience in an industry I think could work for me. I'll have to call up some places and ask.

Per post #8 above/earlier....and also the info provided in the following links -- it appears that you probably qualify to get a HAZMAT endorsement on your CDL:
Hazmat Endorsement | Transportation Security Administration (tsa.gov)
and
Commercial driver's license - CDL (michigan.gov)
When you get your CDL -- I would encourage you to get all of the main, relevant endorsements for the different available types of freight out there (i.e., tanker, hazmat, and also....doubles/triples).
Those endorsements are door-openers...and money-makers!
Later on -- you'll be GLAD you did....

Before you go to the trouble to leave Michigan to get a CDL job....you might inquire with this company (located in Coopersville, Michigan), and see what they say about their driver requirements, vs your situation:
Become a driver | Coopersville | Midwest Companies (mdtransport.us)
They accept/train CDL holders with no previous CDL experience.

Some good states to consider:
South Dakota
Tennessee
Florida
Texas
Nevada
Plenty of good trucking jobs in those states. Florida is a little expensive now though because so many people are moving there for the great weather and no state income taxes. I've lived in all those states except South Dakota.
I'm in Nevada now and been here a few years and really satisfied.

Honestly, I would move to Tennessee. I know some people might say I’m crazy, but I would move to the Knoxville/Tri-Cities area. A lot of freight goes in and out of that area. My second choice would be Chattanooga.
Numb Thanks this. -
Speed_Drums and tscottme Thank this.
