Based on your post and what you do now as a job I have a question for you I ran into a driver just the other day who is working for one of those bottom of the barrel trucking companies and he had years of experience. He said it was the only trucking company that would hire him and I asked why. And he said he had five incidents or accidents connected to him within the last 18 months. He claimed every single one of them was someone else’s fault. Most of them someone backing into him or hitting him while he was at the shipper or at a truckstop. Yeah it’s gotten That bad out there and I agreed with them each and every night you park at a chain truckstop you’re probably taking a risk of someone smacking into you while you’re in the sleeper. Anyhow he said that most trucking companies just flat out viewed him as bad luck. Even though none of the incidents were his fault. That just doesn’t seem fair to me.

Every company has different processes for evaluation, luckily we have autonomy from the insurance carrier to mitigate our own risks. We don't count any incidents of a driver being hit while legally parked or at a shipper getting loaded.Last edited: Sep 11, 2023
