Or alone at home you can work half the year and get most of your tax money back. But no toys. It's either don't work or work 65+ hours a week. Trucking smh.
Rates are crashing and fuel to the moon!

Fulfilling the child hood dream of trucking I guess? Figured out it wasn’t nearly as fun as watching BJ McKay and his best friend Bear.SL3406, exhausted379, IH9300SBA and 5 others Thank this.

I don't know if any of you listen to KR Podcast or his Twitter/X spaces he's does, but on Thursday there was a fleet owner on there saying the shippers/receivers are repricing all the lanes. He believes rates will fall more and a continued flushing out of overcapacity through Jan.-Feb.
REO6205 and Jubal Early Times Thank this. -
I don’t listen to KR, but I believe that statement is probably close to accurate. I think it will be stagnant until 2nd quarter 2024

I have a family of 7. Don’t need now 10k a month. 5k a month is plenty. That’s with wife at home. Unless you’re a gen z needing to eat out, therapy classes, and paid fun time. Just took family camping on a lake. Had a good time. Tents, fire, playgrounds, grilling, and breakfast on Coleman stove. Once you buy all the stuff. Plenty of Rex without adding more money. Same with a rowboat and some fishing poles. Don’t got to spend a fortune to be a dad.
Running a truck does need a decent amount of money and you have to be able to invoice accordingly. Other wise after about 5 years you’re out of business. OOIDA has a stat that only 15% make it into the 6th year. Just like any business when you start out it takes big money and put away big money before you take in any money for yourselves. You should be able to go a few years without taking in any money and invest all you make into the business. Again otherwise, you’ll join the majority that cry about rates and go under. I suggest starting with about 150k after equipment is paid for.Last edited: Sep 10, 2023
