I've been hearing about a freight shortage through the often unreliable Trucker rumor mill. Are you independents out there doing alright? I want to hear the scoop from the boots on the ground. What's going on out there?

The economy has slowed down.. some sectors of trucking are still steadily busy but others have slowed down

2218 to run 660 miles 3.36 mile to run from MI to Rochelle and back to MI. Get reloaded at the same place I deliver. Things are still ok. Reefer..It’s not for everyone.

I don’t see any shortage of dry van freight..Just a shortage of great paying freight.

I’ve never sat because there’s no freight to haul.

Let me see if I can articulate it in a way for those in the back. Spot freight only. There’s an abundance of freight on the boards right now. If can haul below 2.20 a mile and make a living you are killing it right now.

$2.20 a mile sounds pretty tough. I don't know if I'm necessarily in the back just not on the business end as I'm a company driver. That's why I'm asking independents because the small business owners bidding on freight normally get hit the hardest.

Yeah but you still gotta have something leftover after expenses. You still gotta eat. I've always been one to root for the little guy. Hope you guys get through this alright.
