There won't be any CSA points since it happened in a car. Take the traffic school and be thankful, 15 over is a serious traffic offense (STO) in the eyes of the feds and two of these in a three year period result in an automatic 60 day suspension per federal law, so be thankful you got the break just in case you get in trouble again or had something else in the past three years that was also a STO.

Has anybody heard of the coasting law in California? It’s where you pay the fine but you get no points.
-
Does California offer that?
Usually a cdl disqualifies traffic school and no points. -
-
First part. Answer is No, I’ve never heard of it.
2nd part, if the violation is on a commercial vehicle, you don’t qualify for traffic school and you keep the “bonus” points, if the violation is on a non commercial vehicle, you DO qualify for traffic school. -
Not in my state.
Commercial isn't allowed traffic school regardless of pov or commercial.Diesel Dave Thanks this. -
In New York, if you have a CDL, you do not qualify for traffic school, period. It doesn't matter the offense, or what vehicle you were driving when it occurred.

Ca. used to have that law, actually wasn't a "law", the court (judge) could dismiss the violation but the violator had to still pay court costs etc. Not sure if it still is in effect.
Diesel Dave Thanks this. -
I think it’s all on how you plead your case to the judge. He may dismiss the points but pay the fine if it’s on a commercial vehicle. A four wheeler violation, you can attend traffic school, reduce fine and no points. However, I haven’t received a convicted violation in a long time. Last one was “barely” running a red light with no traffic around, LEO was behind me(was bobtailing), anyways, I went to court, I talked to the LEO before entering court. When my name was called, the judge said DISMISSED
. So it’s all how you handle the situation.

Hi , I’ve been driving for 15years , no tickets or accidents
Last week was traveling south on US30 Indiana, and there’s few lights there before chicago, unfortunately I run a red light , local police pulled me over , was very angry without me saying nothing , figured out that it’s better not to argue with him , gave me a red light moving violation, was looking for an attorney with no luck , the only one who will accept to defend asked for 1500 flat fee , told me that the satate of Indiana don’t discuss or amend moving violations for cdl holder any more and all he can do is keep postponing the court date in the hope that the cop won’t show up and go to trial if this won’t work
Any advice appreciated or indiana Kosciusko county cdl attorney referral
Thx be safe everyone
