I have a 2006 d12 and have been unable to figure out my non functioning VEB. VEB works great until engine reaches full operating temp (driving at highway speed for at least 30 minutes). Then it completely fades away to nothing. Exhaust manifold leak or perhaps a faulty VEB coolant sensor?

Hi everybody. Please help. I think my Volvo got a problem related to exhaustion pressure governor. My purge valve is releasing air every 5-10 seconds and air pressure go up when I go down the hill with accelerator pedal released. Everything works fine when I drive using cruise on a flat road, go up the hill or idle. I've just got new air dryer and checked all air lines, no leaks.
Is it possible that exhaust gases somehow go back through EPG to the supply air tank and over pressurize it, so the governor sends signal to release extra air? -

i am just adding to a post my volvo a 2007 was just in the shop for 5days also cost me 7000 in lost revenue cause theres no info, if your worried about your epg exhaust brake stage 2 closing off completely, if your trucks running its not closed completely, my the epg solenoid valve failed, so air was feed to my exhaust brake closing it completely, right from startup, engine the exhaust thick and black soot, engine would start up and die in 37seconds, the exhaust brake would close completely, then the ecm would then throw 3.5 to 5 gallons per hour of fuel to the engine at idle, and then engine dies, the normal fuel consumption on a scan tool for a d12 volvo is .2 to .8 gallons per hour rate, i hope this helps anyone else who has the problem, if this happens unplug the airline from your exhaust brake and plug it and you will be able to drive truck, you will not have a second stage on your jake brake.

So this post is kinda old but I have to post as I have a 05 d12d volvo. I have replaced all parts of the volvo engine brake system . the electric part an oil part of veb under the valve cover the epg air valve 2nd one now first lasted a year and died stuck on now current one is throwing check engine light and no function. Question is when all was working correctly i tested the veb with air line disconnected and veb never fully stays on it cycles on and off repeatedly. With both systems working together it lets the engine speed up faster and faster down hill as it cycles off to on . i had recently found a code for a egr valve not functioning properly and have an Otr kit on truck. I tested all ways to remove code including buying 2 egr valves. End result is a bad ecm on the egr#1 . any answers on why the veb cycles on and off. It sucks badly when you have a heavy load.
