If you looked at a map you’d see that those things a metro area has are all available in Omaha, only I can drive back to my cheap house that I own instead of paying ridiculous prices to live there. And if you’re college educated and enjoy the finer things in life why are you sitting in a truck staring at the road all week with the rest of us lowlifes?

All 10 of them folks wouldn't drink with your arrogant ### in that bar..
FYI.. its not called a village.. it's a town ..
I'am pretty sure you wouldn't be bored in that town either .. cause you'd be busy picking your teeth up off the sidewalk

I haven’t had a drink in 4 years now so I can’t even tell you if there’s 10 people at the VFW at any given time. Lol

After two years of college in my poor Eastern European country I came here with $300 in my pocket. Tried taking classes here again, but had to work 80 hrs per week to support myself and family.
By the time I started to make enough money to pay for college and have time for it, it was too late.
Yeah, I drive a truck, because I am not educated and don't have good enough skills in anything else, that can bring a comparable income.
Generally speaking seems like 90% of the truck drivers are either uneducated born here folks or first gen immigrants .

Anybody here got a tech or science college degree? Raise your hand

Good living/quality of life is subjective, like most things in this world. The amenities you describe about living in a metro area are things I like to visit…once in a great while. I do not desire to be near them all the time. It’s far more important to me to step off my back porch and immediately be in nature than to step off my front step and be in the urban jungle. Just like I’m sure you like visiting more rural areas from time to time, albeit more picturesque ones than my back 40.

    There’s trade offs to both.

I have a Bachelor’s of Science in Agricultural Business with a minor in Economics (more specifically in macroeconomics and commodities).

    I drive a truck.

    I live in the sticks.

That is pretty awesome of you guys to do that. Kids really get the worst part of life when dealing with crazy stuff they should never have to deal with. My Dad passed when I was 15 and my Uncle and Aunt took me in but I was to far broken at the time to appreciate the way I should had. Ended up running away and joining the Carnaval after getting kicked out of 9th grade.

Made up later on in life but had already messed up my life and ended up in prison for 5 years. Uncle never turned his back on me though and I was super appreciative of that and made him proud before passing away after I got out. Worked my butt off to prove I was worthy and we worked everything out as adults. He beat himself up over all of it and thought he let me down. Hell I don't think anyone could have helped me out at that time and never blamed him one bit.

Ha Ha I was thinking the same thing. He surely would not get away with that in the small towns I grew up in.

Before trucking I worked in the oilfield for a couple years. Before that I ran a multi million dollar manufacturing business for 15 years and had at one point in time over 100 people under neath me. I only did trucking because I wanted something different that I could set my own schedule and not deal with everyday employees under me. I could easily go back to that life if I ever wanted to get out of trucking.
