I have a friend that is the service department manager at a dodge/jeep dealer. They expected this and stocked up on the most used parts. I imagine most other competent dealers did likewise

Oh, I totally agree. It's pretty low life move to intentionally inflict damage on a part of the industry that has zero to do with the UAW.
My comment wasn't one of support, merely a note of the attention paid to the current political and economic climate.Siinman, Rideandrepair, bzinger and 2 others Thank this. -
He told me the strike was coming well over a month before anybody was talking about it. The parts warehouse was his main worrySiinman, Rideandrepair, bzinger and 1 other person Thank this.

Funny you should mention computers when they are currently at an all time high for components. Don't believe me? Go watch just about any computer building channel on youtube. Do you know why? There are very few competitors. I.E. because they can.
Also, you keep proving my point. When there is a surplus of whatever, prices go down. It's called competition.Rideandrepair and bzinger Thank this. -
I agree how they are doing the strike it way smarter. I think they learned a very good lesson by watching Yellow situation. Still not a fan of Union but this is a good thought process on how to do it. I also seen that they are targeting GMC more as they said Ford is neg. a more realistic deal and being serious about it. I would guess that Ford will get something done before any of the other Big 3.ducnut and Rideandrepair Thank this.

Apparently they forgot to tell a bunch Bach of people there’s a strike. Saw Chrysler Trucks running. Delivered to a supplier, Big GM plant has a bunch of pick ups and SUVs stockpiled. All the suppliers seem to be working.

From what I was told tonight, UAW’s current tactic is to strike certain component assembly supply plants, such as engine assembly, which will force parts shortages to the final assembly plants. What this does is force the layoff of final assembly workers, which puts them on unemployment, instead of drawing from UAW’s strike fund, and shuts down the plant. Business was NOT normal at KC, tonight.
Siinman Thanks this. -
Loads are scarce in louisville since the truck plant walkout. The auto plant is not doing well since the truck plant does stamped metal for them. I went to dearborn tonight and saw a layoff schedule to slow the pace to keep open.
My last day is friday so i guess i rode it out alright.slim shady, Big Road Skateboard, Magoo1968 and 2 others Thank this.
