Frist off, I have a 2008 Pete with a factory 600 C-15. While traveling at any speed with or without cruise control, I hear an audible pulsing of the engine. If I just tickle the accelerator, it disappears. It does not seem to affect rpm levels nor does it feel odd.... It is just a rythmic sound and keeps a steady rythmic beat. What is this?
Secondly, the switch on the dash for the DPF. How do i use it? It appears to be a three position switch.
Third, the jake brakes activate only after applying the service brakes. I'm assuming this be a setting within the ECM correct?
Any advice much appreciated. Thanks much!

Regarding the first, that's part of the newly integrated Concert Class audio system.
...jk. I know nothing of the new Cats.
Concerning the second, look to your manuals for guidance. If you don't have them, go to Pete's website and look under their 'resources' to download a copy of the guide supplement to the owner's manual. Do some digging, I know it's there. I would say they have covered most of the bases, but I find that the best thing to do is leave the switch in the middle position and let the ECM control the dpf process automatically.
Lastly, yes the engine brake's service brake activation is an ECM parameter that can be easily changed to suite your personal preference. -
Thanks to an iPhone hiccup, how do I delete double posts?

On the Peterbilt website, looking at the 2nd to the top menu bar...the one with the Pete logo in the center, choose:
PETERBILT LIFE -> RESOURCES -> MANUALStsass Thanks this. -
Excelent. Found it. Using a different computer which was not allowing the webpage to load correctly. Thanks very much.
Dealership says the pulsing idle is normal. For real? It's rather irritating. -
Still need info regarding pulsing idle. Idles perfectly when stationary. Pulses when driving. Any clues?

does the boost fluctuate when its pulsing ??
the cats do have some trouble with the CGI valve wearing and then the ecm has a hard time controlling the amount of CGItsass Thanks this. -
I did not notice. I'll pickup the truck Monday and watch the boost guage. I just purchased the truck, so it is all new to me. Thanks for the reply.
