OHP trooper put on leave after shooting, killing semitrailer driver

"A physical struggle occurred outside of the cab and then continued back into the trucks cab"

Based on that sounds justified to me!!!

Assuming, of course, the officer isn't lying.

    Get this:

Of the roughly 740 officers in the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, only about 50 of them have Axon body cameras and those are all management, exactly where the cameras aren’t needed. As it stands the only video we have will come from the dash camera.

Tell a truck driver who has twelve different computer gizmos measuring every mile he drives and who regularly deals with internal and external cameras watching his every move that somehow it’s too much to ask that every cop has a body camera.

    Those Axon cameras cost about $500 each. 700 officers x $500 = $350,000.

In December, Oklahoma City is voting whether or not to spend $900 million for a new arena for the Oklahoma City Thunder. Saying that the whole state somehow can’t afford $350,000 to better serve its citizens isn’t very credible,

I mean, it is expensive to equip body cams. Sure the $350k isn't that much. The 100's of millions of dollars of civil rights lawsuits is what the are afraid of.
Well, and getting fired for getting caught.

let's "blame" some of that on "defund or reimagine" the police....

there are always federal grants for police equipment.

so who's to blame in the end???

    defunding morons.....

This Oklahoma State trooper. Do they wear body cams? Because if so, it would be quite interesting to see the footage on the body cam to see exactly what transpired

The only footage we’re going to get is from the dash cam.

The shooting happened near a toll plaza. There has to be other footage beyond the cruiser dash cam. But this is kind of a strange story. I thought more details would have been released by now.

I’m talking with the ladies in charge of releasing dash cam footage now but we’re in a nonsensical loop. The Department of Public Safety requires the officer’s name to pull the video but the OHP hasn’t released the officer’s name because doing so might “hamper the investigation”. Baloney. That video *IS* the investigation.

Feels like the cops want the D.A. to make the call before any public sentiment is expressed.
