Pretty sure my problems areated fuel. Changed fuel lines. Had a couple bad connections. Problem was much worse. Redid 2 couplers. Problem all but went away. It’s still there though. It was getting real bad before changing lines. Could be the lines themselves or the fittings. I’ve read something about minor differences in diameters of both causing problems. Don’t know.Last edited by a moderator: Oct 14, 2023
Reason for edit: Fixed quoteDetroitDudeBro Thanks this. -
I have all the same exact symptoms. I feel like you’re talking about 12.7 6067BK60. Replaced Injectors, harness ECM, intake manifold sensor. Throttle position sensor. All the above. I read all the post. Seems like we all have the same problem. Anyway you could give me a hand. I have the laptop and with diagnosticlink. Much appreciated.

She’s got a Detroit 12.7 60 series. 6067BK60.
Long story short she’s been misfiring when putting in gears. Not all the time. When she starts acting up I give it throttle and it blows white smoke and clears up and starts running fine. Once again it’s not all the time. Very inconsistent to say the least. I have changed
Injectors
Ran overhead
Injector wiring harness
Turbo boost sensor
Oil pressure sensor
Manifold temp sensor
fuel filters
Air filters
Ecm.
Turbo (new)
Fuel pressure checked ✅
Bull gear was checked and had no play
Any help would be appreciated thanks. Will be doing a custom fine tuning to see if it helps. Seeing if anyone else has had any luck with this problem. -
Having the exact same issues got 12.7 99 DDEC IV it was smoking like a freight train when got her white smoke changed all the 6 injectors, all 30 rocker screws didn't stop smoking but at the same time it was making like gunshot sounds around 1500-1700 rpm's so than simply decided to do a complete out of frame and fired her back up this morning no white or black smoke but oil pressure is at 20 psi at idle and goes as much as 50-55 psi around 1800 rpm is that normal temperature for 60 series? (Haven't pulled any load with it yet)
It fires up fine (not black or white smoke) but it still leaves a large white smoky cloud at 1500 - 1700 rpm for a second or so and it doesn't throw any codes on ECM ? Changed everything from head to oil pump didn't change relif valve though each sensors was replaced but I am not sure if it has nox file on ECM or not
What y'all find out the problem was? (
it sounds so similar like we all are having the same issue) -
Oil pressure normal. Once mines warm it tops out under 50. White smoke, backfire on mine was from aerated fuel. Lines leaking at re usable fittings. I should have used the new style plastic lines. They seem durable and aren’t expensive either.

Would you have a link for those plastic lines you're saying please ? Thank youRideandrepair Thanks this.

Look on any newer Truck. They all use them. Look at any newer Cascadia, see what they use. It’s all plastic at least up to the first fuel filter. Might need one or two flex line around the engine. If you do need a flexible line, buy one pre made. Check for bubbles in fuel tank. Plenty of posts on here about checking for air on fuel. Best to check before replacing them. Unless they’re just old anyways. The plastic is cheap and readily available at any Dealership.Last edited: May 4, 2024
