I've seen this on some company trucks. How does it work?
To be clear, I've seen lots of people slide their rear tandems without getting out of the truck.
I'm wondering how it's done mechanically, what has to be added to truck or trailer?

I know of a way in which you can slide your rear tandems while only getting out of the truck one time (as opposed to the normal two times), but I don't know of any way to slide the tandems without getting out of the truck at all.
I've got nine years of experience. -
pretty simple I'm sure. just need an electric/air solenoid switch and wire it into the cabexpedite_it and 86scotty Thank this.

I know how to do it getting out once. There are some new company trucks/trailers where they have some release from the cab. Curious how it works, thanksFullMetalJacket and expedite_it Thank this.

I was a trucker for 7 years before I learned that if once i had the tandem pins pulled in, i could pop the pins back out again by pushing in the red brake valve. Before I learned that, I would always get out of the truck a second time to push in the tandem release button to get the pins to pop out.Broke_and_Hungry Thanks this.

Was a long time for me as well.

It just goes to show that it is possible to do this job for many years before learning something. We don't magically learn something unless someone teaches us or we are exposed to it simehow.

The easiest way to accomplish this is for the guy watching to miss them release the valve/pull the pin the first time. It’s like slide of hand magic with your eyes closed.

same set up as the 5th wheel release in the cab.
don't ask me to explain it though. lol
the trailer has to have the air release for the pins. -
When I had all long wheelbase Pete's and 53's doing LTL's to the east coast, all were set to slide the trailer from the cab.
Couldn't get into some places without it.86scotty Thanks this.
