I know all about those 10 paid sick days and trust me i use them especially come summer time as well as my 4 weeks vacation. i’m also now off weekends but a lot of the well paying jobs around like MB or tim hortons you’re working weekends for years and years . That’s one thing i will not give up my weekends off . in the end when you die you can’t take the money with you .At the same time i don’t think i’m making what i should be either at 62k a year is a joke

I think for an extra 30k it’s worth it to work either a Saturday or Sunday every week. Nobody at MB works every Saturday and Sunday unless they want to.

Well, everyone and their sister is moving to Alberta. Holy hell! The entire city of Calgary/Area is under construction!!! 7 million sq ft of warehouses/docks are going up around Cross-iron, Airdrie passed 100k ppl, we can P&D the construction materials fast enough. I would say it’s booming 100X harder than 2004-2008. Once again glad to be in LTL, as the FTL Van/Reefer markets are a blood bath. Some LTL outfits going down also, but not as hard or as many. TFI bought Kindersley/Siemens and took a hatchet to them out here. TransFrt closed their terminal just down the way from us. Wild times! HR tells me we’re getting 75 driver applications a day now, everyday

One of the economic articles I read from ATB Financial (Alberta Treasury Branch) recently said Alberta’s population grew by 184,400 people between July 2022 & July 2023. (4.1% growth).

Of that 184,400 number, 15,592 (8%) was births, 56,245 (31%) came from other provinces (mostly BC & Ontario), and the largest portion of the population growth -112,562 (61%) came from international migration.

In Ontario govt is mandating companies must disclose wages in the job postings.
I emailed ERB,,"How much a mile?" "call us" was their response. I certainly don't want to waste my time listening to a of lies and overstated earnings. If the wage were worth filing an application the company would disclose and they would not have a help wanted shingle on every trailer

Go to the ERB website and they have all the rates listed for O/O and drivers.
