Buyer beware for sure. You can definitely get some decent stuff there if you take the time to check things over well and find out the backstory on the previous owner/company.

Bankruptcy sale, expect some neglected maintenance. Major company that's still in business and has just 1 piece of iron going on the block, its probably got issues not worth fixing or they weren't interested in figuring them out. If the company is doing well and has several units at auction, do some digging. If they've just bought a bunch of new units, they're probably just clearing out the older ones.

No joke, at a previous job we've had guys bring stuff to the shop they picked up at Ritchies, wanting us to look it over. Then we give them a quote for repairs that's higher than what they paid, so they decide not to fix it. A month later a new owner shows up with it, just picked up at Ritchies. Go to file cabinet, get the previous quote and change the customer name at the top lol.

Facebook Marketplace and Craigslist are popular options for finding used vehicles. While it's important to be cautious of scammers, there are also many genuine sellers who offer great deals.

My wife sold my old freightliner century on craigslist. Had 3 guys come out and look. 2 of them tried to lowball her, with oh its gonna need this or that.
One guy looked said will let ya no. Never heard from him again.

She waited about 6 months and advertised again.
Next day a guy called at 8:30pm. Said I'm driving from Ohio (600 miles away) I'm bring my equipment. Will pay asking price dont let anyone have it.

Sounded like a scam, so she wouldn't give address. Told him to call from local truckstop when he got there.

Next morning he called, said I'm here.
She took her best friends husband and my then 19 YO son with her to meet him.

Sure as #### he was there, and had a tow hook that goes from 5th wheel to 5th wheel.
He followed them to house, opened hood to make sure it was a series 60. Climbed underneath to check some numbers on trans and rears.

Crawled back out, said yup I'll take it.
Never even started it or looked at interior.
Paid her, got title, hooked and booked.
Said something about never having a eld in a truck her drives.

I just sold one on FB today. No problems, just have to sift through the lowballers, scammers and BS like every other transaction in life.

I'd much rather deal with trucks on FB than deal with truck dealers.

Going to look at another one this week I’ve been watching on marketplace for a while now, bringing cash and a .45 and if nothing lines up hopefully I’m able to leave without using either

Just make sure to do your research and thoroughly check out any truck you're interested in before making a purchase. With this diverse truck selection to consider, you might just come across the perfect fit for you.

rather have the .380 then nothing but at least I’ll have something to throw at them after pissing them off even more

Both have a lot of scammers. I had something for sale on Craigslist last week. First one answered wanted to have another site send me a verification number that I was supposed to text her along with my address. Told her to f off. Marketplace is the same.
