I just got to the hotel in Winter Haven. The flight went smoothly but I did learn something about myself today. I will avoid flying if at all possible in the future. I got very nauseous during the flight. I didn't have to use the barf bag, but I definitely made sure I knew where it was. It made the flight almost unbearable. It's weird too because I flew from Oklahoma to Washington State when I was 6 years old and remember everything being a positive experience. I don't remember getting nauseous.
Anyway, this hotel is really nice. Looks brand spankin new. I like that there's a Golden Corral in walking distance too.Bud A., hope not dumb twucker, Speed_Drums and 4 others Thank this. -
Finished orientation today and drove up to Cordele to get my truck. Probably the most painless orientation I've ever been through. No BS, they just tell you how the company does things and all the safety stuff that they're required to tell you by law. I was the only person there yesterday, but I think there was supposed to be a few other drivers that couldn't make it for various reasons, I think they said a couple of them didn't meet the qualifications or something. So I got a whole pizza to myself for lunch lol. Yesterday was all paperwork and watching videos. Today was just pump training. I've used a pump on the truck before, but I've never used a pump on the trailer. It was really straightforward and actually easier than a pump on the truck since you don't have to run a hose from the trailer to the pump and then to customer's hookup. Just one hose directly from the trailer to customer hookup.
Finished pump training by lunch, more pizza, but hey at least it's free, and then drove to Cordele. Got here kinda late after everyone left, but they gave me a key when I was in Winter Haven so I could sleep in the truck tonight. They left a new mattress (still wrapped in plastic) in the truck. Tomorrow I'm gonna check in with the shop to see if there's anything I need to do before just taking off with it and I'll probably ask them about cleaning it. Doesn't seem like they really wiped anything down at all. There's no trash in it or anything like that, but it isn't really as clean as I would expect a truck to be before being assigned to a driver. No big deal, I'm assuming they forgot to do it or didn't have time yet.
As a side note, what's up with these trucks randomly blowing air out every few minutes? This truck, the truck I did the road test in, and the truck that the guy was using for pump training all have been doing that. It doesn't sound like the typical air governor sound you hear after the truck fully builds up air pressure, just more of a sudden air rushing out as if there was a hole in an air line momentarily, lolLast edited: Oct 11, 2023
Speed_Drums, Tanker_82 and Bud A. Thank this. -
I forgot to mention. My truck has 89k miles, so that's nice.
Tanker_82 Thanks this. -
I’m glad everything went smooth. I’m not sure about the air sound without hearing it. Mine doesn’t do anything abnormal.

I didn't realize any food-grade liquid ever came out of Hereford since it's known for being a cow town. What was the product?Tanker_82 Thanks this.

It was vegetable oil from a place that looks like an old grain elevator right next to the railroad tracks on Highway 60, about a mile east of the Loves / 385 junction. I don’t know how regular it is, but I’ve done it three or four times over the years.Nashville and RockinChair Thank this.

It’s the air dryer putting out the air and supposedly it is controlled by a computer I was told. And good luck with the new job
Redtwin, Nashville and Cobrawastaken Thank this. -
Mine does the same and was told it's normal? -
Same here , draining the tanks really doesn't do anything either
Nashville Thanks this.
