Man you talked up the Aldi run. I unloaded in Garner, NC this morning and deadheaded to Charlotte for the run to Aldi. Don't poop too much on the short runs, they add up and some them are advantageous if you have the hours to run straight through. I always love the Silgan load to Belvidere, IL. It's 350 miles and it's a drop. You can run that one straight through and they'll take it.

I always Iiked the loads that were 700 to 900 miles and can be delivered next day. I'm not too picky about where I like to go personally. I think each part of the country is cool in its own way. @Thrasher28 You lucked up with an Albuquerque run though. That's gotta be good for what, like 1200 miles? @RubberDuck473 did they have you bring rubber back up after off loading in Houston? I used rubber twice in that sentence lol

That’s a small portion why I left climate. I told Travis time after time I’d be more than willing to take a load out to phoenix or wherever. I guess the solo loads out there are that scarce. I reloaded in California Monday and delivered this morning in Denison Texas. I have a drop and hook in the morning in Denton that has 4 drops in Florida. 3 are in the Miami area and the final is in Lakeland. Putting my truck in the shop after I deliver that at our yard in dade city. When I was in California I had sever warning lights come on including ABS, traction control, hill assist, adaptive cruise control and such. They would be on for a shift then I would take my ten then the truck would run fine for a day then they would be back on. When the lights are on I have no traction control so wheel spin in 4-8th gear . Two codes for ABS and no adaptive cruise.

Thrasher jinxed me lol. Grabbed a beer load out of Houston back up to MO, delivered that this morning, then got a Denver Coke load picking up tomorrow that delivers Monday 0600. Not giving layover pay for weekend loads is a load of **** in my book, but it is what it is I suppose.
    Here's where I got jinxed.
Got settled down here at the Loves down the street from my delivery, planned out my Denver run, and Travis calls me. Says they have a Hershey load picks up tonight that needs delivered tomorrow at Aldi in O'Fallon at 0300. Thanks Thrasher lol. At least Travis said he'd hook me up with hourly pay. Then after that I'll roll over to Coke and head to Denver. Getting to stop at the Walmart in Junction City will be a nice bonus :) (small victories lol)

With the deadhead to Union for truck swap and then up MO47 to Wright City, it was roughly 1100 miles. Headed up to Monte Vista and then over to Moberly for an 03:30 Monday delivery, so will be decent weekend miles.

And yeah, I understand not being too picky. Every region has its own annoyances and cool things. West Virginia, Wisconsin, Arizona, and even states like Alabama are pretty in their own ways. I just enjoy the variety. I know running out west does get old in a hurry in the winter time lol. I remember last January running from Iowa to Seattle and then reloading out of Portland was brutal. Road closure in Wyoming on night one. Had to chain up twice across 4th of July, Lookout, and Snoqualmie. And then I-5 got closed for flooding the next day on my way to reload. That's the trip I got my profile picture from lol. I might get burnt out on Texas sometimes, but no chains and flooding in Temple :D

That Aldi is pretty decent, especially since you have a prepaid Hershey load. Takes a couple hours to get unloaded and then the truck stop parking starts opening up by the time you're leaving. Pretty easy money if you're alright with the sleep interruption lol.

Yeah, I'm surprised they haven't branched out west yet or gotten into more of the produce, meat, and frozen sectors that head out that way more. I guess it's just a thing of higher liability and a higher demand for trailers in really good shape when sending -20 loads across Death Valley compared to 55 degree loads to Denver. I know when I was with a company that did tons of ice cream, it was a fairly normal week to run out to Cali and then reload heading all the way back to Maryland. Of course, the market was in a better place at that time

It's a little better it happened in October and not the dead of winter lol. Are you a lease operator or a company driver there? I know they're pretty well known for their LP, but wasn't sure. Props to you all -- I see Garrison trucks regularly and have almost never had a bad experience. Seems like you all are just the southeastern Hirschbach lol, which isn't a bad thing.

Maybe they want you to get a 34 with that Denver load. At least you'll get some good miles coming back though. They told me to go ahead and deliver to Aldi tonight at 1 am. No biggie. My week was cool. I've got to pick up a loaded reefer at Craftsmen then up to Chicagoland for 4 am Monday morning. They already sent my backhaul info and that drops at Hershey. That will come off same day.

The teams run west with regularity. When solos go west, that's a treat. Since I've been here, I've probably taken a load west of Denver maybe 5 times. I guess companies roll with what fits there business model money wise. One of our drivers once was told that grabbing apples out of Washington state didn't fit there business model, that it wasn't advantageous to run out there. I'll never know. I think I've heard about one of the teams running out to Portland and Seattle once in the past. The perk of thise loads is that the path of to 3000 miles is a lot easier.

On a side note, I like that comparison. Lol RE Garrison is the Southeastern Hirschbach...that's a good one. Who would win that fight lol

That Aldi used to be an all nighter when it came to getting unloaded. Once covid came, that became a walk in the park for some reason. I used to dread a delivery there, now it's not so bad. Some of the other Aldis were way easier to unload at. Since being here I've gone to one in Tennessee and another near Milwaukee and near of those were the headache that O Fallon was. I used to think that was a punishment load lol
