I've been trucking locally for a while now, but I'm embarking on a linehaul position at my company...I've never used a CB. Should I get one and why?
Why a cb?

because some S/R use them to get ur info, and tell u what dock to park in, good for accidents/cops on the highway, and getting locale info. The bad side is all the BS that goes on by big truck stops and out on the road
heyns57 Thanks this. -
First of all, you need to know where the speed cops are at, you need to know if the chicken coops are open or closed, and it will let you know where the 10-33's are ahead of you. A CB IS A MUST FOR EVERY TRUCKER PERIOD !!! Just make sure you MATCH the antenna to the radio.(SWR CHECK).

dont leave home without it

I have a 88 Galaxy in my Pete with a 1000 wilson and 56 mic. I just hooked my 44 Galaxy in my 4 wheeler with the same set up except I use a magnet antenna.

You can always be like my buddy. He doesn't run one.
It took him 5 hours to go 120 miles the other day. Simply because he didn't know the interstate was totally shut down ahead of him.
However...if you're paid by the hour. -
If I didn't have my CB, how would I hear about all the drivers who ain't got their panties on?
squirrellsgnwild, Captain Canuck and Airbus Thank this. -
Yes you need one. Don't have to leave it on all the time. There are a lot of shippers/receivers that will call you on them. And some scales also use them if they don't have light to tell you to go or come in w/papers.

I'll drink to that ...

Scince I have no clue about cb's, what type brand do you recommend for a beginner?
