Who’s had freight going somewhere and it had you scratching your head wondering why the hell they’re getting product like this?

Today I had a roll of astroturf for a brick place.

One that particularly sticks out is the auto parts I took to an adult bookstore once.

Wasn't the product but the warehouse.
Weirdest one I've had was I delivered to a strip mall type warehouse. Back into the door and go inside. Place is completely dark but the light from the door I can see a staircase and I hear people talking. So I walk up stairs. About 10 people all trying to work with 1 hand held hanging shop light. It was a complete mess, pallets everywhere almost no room on the floor. I had around 10 pallets to deliver to them.

Luckily they opened some linehaul jobs and I haven't looked back.

I had three big crates on a 53 ft van .
Tall and narrow but took up the trailer front to back.
Not real heavy but heavy enough need some big fork lifts and some rigging skills.
Address was in an area that had some businesses and homes.
Pull up the a house the guy says just put them in the driveway.
    Really..
I said where is your forklift Opened the doors and his jaw dropped oh..
Whats inside the crates it's an airplane fuselage and the two wings. The motor and prop are already here.
Ended up at his lumber yard down the road a bit.
Always wondered how it got to the airport on the other side of town.

Went to Wilmington, NC to pick up a chassis dyno for a customer. Looking for a speed shop, but loaded at a distillery….. in a rough part of town….

Adjoining warehouse tennant distributed all sorts of HVAC equipment.

Non CDL box full of air conditioners to a NYC PD building where the PD helped our driver and helper pull the skids out in the parking lot and break them down to let the bomb dogs have a good smell before the units were taken into the building.

I had a reefer pick up at the Savannah GA port going to Disney World in Orlando FL.
I had to pick up the container right at port closing, 1700hrs. I had to take only the roads that they said, and handed me a custom made map. They told me I must have at least half a tank of fuel and not stop for any reason other than a breakdown. Just as I walking out the door with the map, Ops manager told me that a car will be following you from A to B. You wont know which car though. I get the hazmat unit and thought it odd that the reefer unit did not have a genset mounted to it. Genset is the engine and batteries that charge the refrigerator unit built into the front of the container. But I had delivered teak wood from overseas in non-running reefer units (better seals for crossing the oceans). Nice drive along the prescribed route. I get to the Disney dock about 2130hrs. I get my signature and bobtail home. I found out that I was carrying the fireworks for their shows at night.
Ive carried other hazmat products but never had this much security on it.

    Speed_Drums Thanks this.

The first company I worked for that went broke we hauled coins out of the Denver mint.
Only security we had was the guard's at the federal Reserve stationed around with machine guns.
Dam all 4 are broke and gone now.
    Thanks to Jimmy Carter
