Freight recession unlike any other in history
Interesting article. I know a lot of you like to think loadboards are "backhaul only" freight but really they haven't been that for many years now. For better or worse freight brokerages keep expanding market share with every passing year.Big Road Skateboard, dwells40, 2CAN and 1 other person Thank this. -
Good read, still prefer to go direct.
Have to find the need for service though -
I don’t see how this article helps your narrative. It simply states exactly what I said several post ago. New carriers and brokerages have exploded with technology.
It makes no mention to the actual freight rates. And if you can make more money and have a more stable customer base by using the load board to source freight. Why is that?? Because that’s BS.IH9300SBA Thanks this. -
I never claimed a more stable customer base or more money by using loadboards. You or maybe someone else was making a claim that loadboards are "just backhaul freight" which is totally wrong and I disagreed with it. That hasn't been the case for more than a decade. This article backs that up and talks about freight brokerages actually growing market share. That's where it has been and is trending.
Somebody else said that owner operators are dying out that there's less and less of them, which also is the exact opposite of what's been going on ever since deregulation.Rideandrepair, Constant Learner, Midwest Trucker and 1 other person Thank this. -
When everyone else is saying that “brokers are taking too much”. Just because you disagree doesn’t mean it’s wrong. The article states that brokers have gained market share. I don’t dispute that. In fact I said the exact same thing. But just because a broker has more freight doesn’t mean that the freight isn’t beat down. And just because more people have turned to it for head hauls doesn’t mean it isn’t a back haul rate. Why do you not understand this?Phoenix Heavy Haul, dwells40 and IH9300SBA Thank this.

I don't agree that brokers are taking too much. They're beating down the rates and everyone is taking the same freight for less. And not all headhaul rates from loadboards are backhaul rates. You seem to think it's like that all the time. It's not. That's the way it used to be many years ago. Aint like that anymore.dwells40 Thanks this.

Things change, sometimes quickly. It didn't used to be like that when it was all backhaul rates all day, every day.
dwells40 Thanks this.
