I applied for this flatbed company and was set up to start orientation on Monday the 23rd. I let the recruiter know yesterday Friday the 20th that I wanted to wait a week to start because my daughter was having her baby . Recruiter called me and said they were not going to be bringing me on due to me wanting to wait a week . Not sure if Barber always does this .

I wonder if you were trying to get on with a smaller company. Since you had to push it back, they probably found someone to take your spot. If that's the case, it sucks but they were probably ready to fill that truck

The co. probably said, "he knew his daughter was due way before he applied for the job".

Something similar happened with Schneider, when I first started with them.
I needed another week before starting orientation.
The recruiter was cool with it; I was thus rescheduled to begin with the following week's class.
I think what you've experienced there is more a sign of the times. Companies are just getting pickier and thus more choosey.
Solution: find another carrier, & move on.

Don’t know how unusual it is.You obviously knew your daughter was pregnant when you scheduled the orientation. Not all companies have unlimited openings. They most likely just moved on with the next applicant.

You waited till the last minute to back out with a reason that you knew about for quite a while. That would be reason enough for most places to pass on someone.
