typical 2 disc pull clutch. wont go in gear with engine running. Clutch brake is intact. engine off in gear, start engine with clutch pressed half way. release clutch and it acts normal. press clutch down to clutch brake and truck moves forward as if clutch is being released. what the heck is going on?

Do you have a 1/4" between release fingers and bearing? Have you tried rotating clutch brake by hand, to check if the tangs are broken off?
Oxbow and Big Road Skateboard Thank this. -
Also I apologize, I'm trying to understand what your describing.

tangs are there. i know this sounds real goofy. ive never seen it before.
jamespmack Thanks this. -
"wont go in gear with engine running" Clutch is not fully releasing. May be a weak pressure plate, broken springs, a sticking intermediate plate. If adjusted properly then the trans needs to come out to inspect and replace the clutch. First check the cable or linkage. Also, with the bottom plate off have someone press in on the clutch and look to see if the bearing is contacting the clutch brake.jamespmack Thanks this.

Sounds like those “Self-adjusting” clutches. I threw mine away when I had the transmission gone thru.

How about a pic @Mr Bob, from the inspection plate looking up towards the throw out bearing?
Oxbow and Diesel Dave Thank this. -
Damper springs broken and stuck between clutch discsBoxCarKidd, Isafarmboy, Last Call and 2 others Thank this. -
Put your fingers down in bottom of housing in the crud. Probably gonna find some pieces.
Oxbow Thanks this.
