I've experienced paper logs and older trucks. Honestly, I would not go back. Trucks are 10 times better in my opinion. They drive better, and are way more comfortable. I would bot go back to paper logs even if I had the choice to. I like elogs so much better. I don't like filling out papers. I couldn't keep my logs up to date a lot of time. Caught a couple of log violations in the process. I'd be too tired at the end of the day to catch it up, and to non chalant in the morning to get it started. Touch the screen, go to bed. Simple. Errors are reduced so much. Honestly, I feel like I make more money now in the elog era than I did in the paper log days, even if I cheated the logs. I wouldn't go back at all.

I started out in a 1985 single bunk freightliner. Had the boot between cab an bunk. Was a big hood. 350 cummins with a busted governor. Had it up to 96 once in Iowa. A cop told me so. Next truck was a 90 to 92 fld 120 with the 48 inch flat top. Much simpler times an rides. Life was far less complicated.Boardhauler Thanks this.

213 number also includes people who have been with K&B for more than a year. So not really a good figure. If they lose 70 to 75 percent drivers every year (conservative figure)bzinger Thanks this.

While there will always be dime a dozen drivers, there are also some drivers who are assets. And any good trucking company understands that difference and treats the good drivers accordingly.
Too many companies operate as if their drivers are serfs, dictating everything but bathroom breaks. And far too many of y'all accept that as SOP. With rare exception, drivers who are assets don't and won't work for those outfits.
And yes, every driver can be replaced. But while a good company hates to lose an asset, the dime a dozen crowd couldn't care less. Flush the last one, grab the next piece of meat to fill the seat. Do what you're told... OR ELSE!surf_avenue, 25(2)+2, rollin coal and 3 others Thank this. -
I knew what I was getting into well before the position was offered. I was in this role in 2013 shortly before retiring from the military. Slightly different components, but the basics are still the same.
I get to see the Owner/CEO, President/COO, and VP on a daily basis (and on days like today after a full-moon weekend, numerous times in a day). No fear, especially when they are genuinely good folks to work for.
VERY conservative figure. Imagine how many people leave in less than 90 days, then those seats get filled only for those to leave in 90 days... 3-5drivers per year in most of their trucks at that rate.
An easier way to calculate turnover is to see how many are in orientation every week. If they are pulling in 10-20 people a week for 750 trucks, that's almost exactly 100% turnover. If they do that twice a week, that's about 200%. Anyone have an eye on the Sioux City airport to see how many they are bringing in? -
So delete the app after they're satisfied that you have it. Or do they make you download something else to tell them when you do that?
Give us the real dirt on K&B. The juicy stuff that only people with anonymity wish to say. Can't be too many Sean's there, right? Guess your in a hard place if they call you "bigsean" there too, though.Lonesome, cdavis188, merv85 and 1 other person Thank this. -
Theres a device in the truck that links up with the app
