Question regarding PSP and applying to companies

"ignorance is no excuse?". The issue is the GVWR on the trailer I'm guessing. But I do not know what they are on the vehicles in question.. There were a slew of horse show folks who got the same surprise a few years back

When I look at this or my insurance company reviews it, the question is this - did the driver have a CDL?

if it is no, then it is ignored.

If it is yes, then I am asked about it and I ask the driver.

lane restriction tickets are not as bad as speeding and reckless driving.

Your employer needs to quit their job.

You work for a commercial entity that is chartered by the state, and the vehicles all have to follow the same laws, the registration is a different case.

In my state, a combination vehicle under 26K with a trailer under 10K is NOT regulated as a commercial vehicle if it operates intra-state. Make that trailer 10,001 lbs (actual or registered) and pull it with a bicycle, and it’s commercial and needs a CDL.

I don’t know the laws in CA, but the presumption that it’s a commercial vehicle is not universal.

 

Just a guess here, you missed the signs that say “ No vehicles towing allowed in x lane”
Some say just left lane others might have left 2 lanes. Just depends on the roadway.

CA vehicle code also has a restriction for towing in the far left lane or in HOV lanes.
