You’re in a tough spot. Honestly I’d do whatever it takes to keep UPS. Id reapply at Walmart. If not go LTL. In Jan. You might have to keep quitting and finding a new job but it will eventually pick back up and you’ll look back and be thankful. In my area everything is still hiring only place that’s slow is Ups. Crazy.

You answered it for yourself. That's how it is when you have to make a choice between a few good opportunities. In the end you have make it & be accepting of it. You have to let of the " could of should have." We all been there before. Now if there were some children or more responsibilities involved it would be an easy choice but your young again right

. Had to put that one in
. Stability I had to take one time when my daughter was in college and I gave up some of my freedom but I accepted for a time until her last year. All the best in your decision making process.

So educate me on the phrase "off the street hire." I'm an OTR guy so I don't quite know all of the LTL or Linehaul terminology. I'm asking so I understand better.LtlAnonymous Thanks this.

Basically you didn’t have to grind in the warehouse for decades to get a driving position. You were hired by luck outside the usual hiring process.Speed_Drums, Bud A., bryan21384 and 1 other person Thank this.

And are hired full-time, rather than having to do seasonal work. You're an actual employee.Speed_Drums, Bud A., bryan21384 and 1 other person Thank this.

UPS prefers to hire from within the company. Employees within the company that have a cdl or want a cdl are top priority.
Off the street means drivers that don't work for UPS are hired.

The young married couple I posted about a few days ago, were hired from within the company.
I think they both were warehouse workers without a cdl. Now they're tractor-trailer drivers and if both max out on pay, that means $340,000.00 per year.Speed_Drums, bryan21384 and LtlAnonymous Thank this. -
Most feeder drivers have moved over from package cars.
Off the street in my area is usually from small locations or relays.LtlAnonymous Thanks this. -
