I know what the law is. I meant he didn’t get caught violating a chain order because of bad roads. The guy I quoted was talking about the fines of you ignore the chain law and spin out or block the road.

Yeah, in the meantime, they just let the tailgating, speeding, cutting off, flip flop crowd run right on by with their chains hanging, that they never put on, go right on by...
HoneyBadger67, pnw guy and Oxbow Thank this. -
Call lawyers up in the county you were cited in. I did that and it helped on my ticket from a long time ago.
Oxbow and Constant Learner Thank this. -
Before I ever thought of driving a truck I got stopped for speeding. The officer said he would write it up as a seatbelt ticket as a ‘favor’ or whatever. It sounded good to me, what do I know. That ticket cost maybe $100. The insurance increase cost me I think $3600 over the next 3 years.
Then I decided to become a trucker. I forget which company it was but they said it’d have been a lot better to have a speeding ticket because anybody could miss a speed limit change and get a speeding ticket. A speeding ticket doesn’t show a complete disregard for the law and for safety in general like a seat belt ticket does they said.
Werner hired me without a peep about it though.201 Thanks this. -
If your driving alone who cares …… somehow we survived without seatbelts in the before time….
And if your doing something that’s gonna knock you out of the seat you got bigger problems than a seatbelt gonna handle.HoneyBadger67, 201, Sons Hero and 1 other person Thank this. -
Right on, pal, I drove millions of miles without a seatbelt, only putting it on when I went into a scale. It's a misnomer to say, and a false sense of security that buckling a seatbelt makes you a better driver. People are still crappy drivers, they are just more likely to survive in a crash. Classic intervention to save us from ourselves.

Doesn't matter if you're the best driver in the world because you don't have any control over the other drivers around you.
Hatt91, HoneyBadger67 and Sons Hero Thank this. -
If I'm no longer in control of my vehicle, my vehicle has left the roadway and I'm no danger to anyone. Seriously, if the government cared about being in control of the vehicle, they'd fix some of the roads so you don't bounce all over the place. -
So you’re positive that your vehicle left the roadway and ended up somewhere harmlessly?
Really? -
I'm positive if I left the road it wouldn't be in a residential area. So, yes, it would harm me and leave everyone else out if it. I survived 30+ years without a nanny telling me I need restrained. Just because some nitwit wants their agenda pushed, that doesn't mean I'm going to kowtow. A lot of people die BECAUSE of seatbelts, too.Sons Hero Thanks this.
