In the pics I posted, the permitted route is the only route. There aren’t “other” routes available. I wish I had taken pictures of the places I have been. I was only taking in frack equipment. Imagine hauling the drilling rig pieces in. The cranes. The compressors.
Here is one. My supervisor was guiding this one. That wall was nicknamed the million dollar wall. It had been replaced so many times that Chesapeake finally bought the property and widened the road. Rumor was total cost over time was $1 million.

Unless you're delivering or picking up in West Virginia surely getting permits to go around and taking longer a route would be a better option.Flat Earth Trucker Thanks this. -
TripleSix and Flat Earth Trucker Thank this.

This construction on I-64 has been going on for a couple years now. Moving OS/OW loads have been some what of a pain locally.
There has been a 11’ wide restriction during most of it.
Guy in a blue Pete dragging a Cat 773 decided to test that restriction, at night time. Not sure if that company is still in business, but they created one hell of a mess when the Jersey wall was shoved out into the opposite lane.
Construction is over 4 miles long, he made it about 600’ before he was wedged tight between the concrete barriers. This was at exit 20 in front of Lowe’s and the Mall.
Another screw up….,
Guy had a big wide excavator on, went up the west bound entrance ramp from route 60 at exit 15…, same entrance ramp I was not allowed to run the 336 Cats on because it was narrowed down because of the construction.
Yep, they brought another excavator in to set the barrier walls back 1 at a time to let him continue on. That was a couple hours of traffic congestion too.
As the actor Rory Calhoun said to George Strait in the movie Pure Country…., Guess?!!! You can’t guess, you have to KNOW what you’re doing…..Bud A., TripleSix and Flat Earth Trucker Thank this. -
Called the HP. Smokey comes out and looks at my route and the date. He talked to the construction crew, made some phone calls and realized that the bridge construction started a week early.
It was a 2 mile back until I was able to do a 3 point turn. Went straight through some little old town square. GPS said, “in 3/4 of a mile, enter the roundabout.” Roundabout???Last edited: Nov 8, 2023
