Hey everyone here is my situation would appreciate anyones help and views I need help on this.
I have a 14 Cascadia 13 spd, engine had 800k when took it to a shop running with a check engine light for diagnostics. 3 weeks and 4k later they blew my motor it locked. Took them to court I got some money out of it
Question 1: I'm looking to buy a engine and put it in my truck but most engines I find are out of auto trucks. Will that work in my manual or not?
Question 2: I see people with 2018 engines in these years so I know it's doable. But will the emissions be compatible or will I have to get a 2018 emissions system or are those trucks just deleted. I wouldnt mind deleting but I'm in California I heard they are starting smog checks next year where they plug Intk your computer so I don't know if that's the smartest idea unless the delete can fool there scanner
Question 3: is it even worth it to swap the motor? I'm finding engines for 8-15k plus 5-6k to Install so looking at anywhere from 14-21k. Truck is paid off and in good shape alot if new parts. Or as cheap as trucks are now should I just get new one. I see 2016 Cascadia with 500k or less in the 25-30 range if not cheaper
Thanks

Go with find another truck .. Reason being you'll have as much.if not more than what that truck is worth and with a used motor that you really don't know anything about its history
There's a member here that has a nice freighliner for sale in the classifieds.. I know the truck its a good truck well cared for

I've got a brand new dd15, not rebuilt, if you're looking to replace. It even comes with a 2010 century (10spd) free of charge. You'd probably find a different truck cheaper, though.

Forget about the old truck. Replace it with another used u it. Yes you really don't know what you are getting but some of the risk can be mitigated by a good inspection.
Use the old truck for parts.
This is how I operate, I'd never put a motor in a truck no more then a used truck cost why spend that same replacing an engine?
I've had a lot of trucks and I try to keep the exact same truck or atleast the same power train.
