My guess on the torque is something is set in the ecm to prevent full boost/torque….

    Rideandrepair Thanks this.

Talked to a friend of mine and he said that Peterbilt in Lincoln told him the ecm is set from the factory to break the engine in the way Cummins wants it. Supposedly should change at 75k miles or so.

As far as the fuel mileage, how is the transmission programmed?

The torque “gauge” is nothing more than a calculated value. We had a 389 with that gauge in the SmartNav and it never went to 100% for the 375k miles we had it, but it definitely pulled like a 565/2050 should.

It’s more for funsies than anything.

    Rideandrepair and dwells40 Thank this.

But was it good right off the bat , or did it get better after it “broke in “ ?

Thanks for everyone's feedback. The transmission is a 12 speed Eaton Endurant. We will see what the fuel mileage does the next few days as we are heading east this time. We did deadhead 200 miles today and it showed 12.4MPG during this time. I mean I don't know if I believe that.

Rideandrepair, Oxbow and Magoo1968 Thank this.

Is this the new norm for the “borg” spec trucks……?

It felt better after about 10-15k miles. Fuel mileage was better after 50k.

    Rideandrepair Thanks this.

Once you get about 10-15k miles on it, take it in to have all the u bolts retorqued and the alignment gone over real good. Almost all trucks leave the factory with a “eh, good enough” alignment and it isn’t worth doing one until you need to do your u bolt and fastener check at 10-15k. But that could also be playing against your mileage as well.
