I am looking for information on a air bag setup where you can have an overextended airbags on the tractor. Not sure if there is a name for that. I had one truck at work a few years ago that had the button on the dash that would lift the tractor a few extra inches. Also a co worker had a system on his truck too that he could do it from outside but I never asked how it worked as I didn't own my truck at the time. Is this special bags or just an add on? Only reason I would like to do it is for chain up situations where I need to chain everything and fronts drives are pretty tight with the fenders. tried googling it but cannot seem to get terminology to get results. Thank you

    Oxbow Thanks this.

Thank you, well that was what I was looking for and with that I won't be adding it any time soon. Be handy for sure but 1500 US makes it lower on the want list.

It is an option on carhaulers from the manufacturer and they refer to it as a pneumatic lift kit. I ordered it on my tractor and trailer that have Hendrickson suspensions. I would have to look at the specs to be exact, but mine will raise roughly 4-6 inches.

You can do it for free if you dont mind dealing with the hassle of manually lifting the arm on the leveling valve itself.

I would love to have something like that on my company Cornbinder. Would be nice to be able to raise the front of a rear unload tanker a few inches to get a better angle when unloading.
Many years ago, I was pulling a van trailer for North American Van Lines that had an 11" drop. Had a switch on the front of the trailer that would allow the bags to raise the rear of the trailer up to normal dock height so I could use regular docks.

Had a couple of trucks than ran LTL with steep docks. Just removed the 5th wheel air line and tee'd into the air bags past the leveling valve. Flip the switch and would extend to the top of the shocks.

That is standard equipment in Europe.
You can raise or lower the suspension and stop at any point in between.
Push the neutral button and it goes back to the driving position. Some may even do it once a certain speed is exceeded.
