    anyone know what kind of stick on patches im seeing on trailers? its some kind of thick patch material with aluminum outer layer.

    I've seen the rail yards use something like that on the containers.

    real sticky! and seal any crack !

    Home Depot. Same aisle as the duct tape.

    looks like the flashing tape i used. i was hoping for something with a thicker metal layer.

    Not the same stuff. Trailer tape is much thicker. I can’t think of something to compare it to. Maybe rolled roofing or that rolled ice guard?? Very thick and sticky as heck.

    Tape is a stop gap thing. It's not a proper fix for a hole in a trailer wall. They do make aluminum patch pieces in different dimensions that are .060 thickness and have double sided adhesive on one side that you can slap over a gash but it still needs to be riveted and looks like crap. But if it's not your trailer who cares what it looks like. You can get it at any trailer place. Maybe even truck pro or some such sells it too.
