For determining exact pressure, of course it's useless. But for comparitive purposes it works just fine. Provided your ears still work.
How do you add air to trailer tires without air inlet ports?

Ive had the unfortinate experience of being the guy that got to inflate all the new tires on our pickup pulled fertilizer spreaders one year when they all got replaced... I aired one up to pressure and checked using a guage. The rest I simply aired up until the thump rang the same as the one I used a guage on. I spot checked a few with a guage after I had all of them inflated, of the ones I checked, none were off by more than 2 or 3 psi.
So, all that said... Given the tires are all the same, I will check one and compare the thump for the rest... Rotating the one I check with a guage everyday.Bean Jr., Kyle G., Hammer166 and 1 other person Thank this. -

Yes, me ears still work although some sounds, like voices, still reflect away or so I've been told by me Mother as well other Ladies as well the Wife.
Thumping Tires, I never received the sound in the correct pitch or toon, so I just used a Long Straight Tip Air Gauge which I replaced every few months from gravity draws.
I received more exercise by stooping, reaching, standing and walking, despite cold or heat.
Inclement Weather I did Air Gauge Checks as allowed by Mother Nature and Father Time.

I've found that when I kick and I don't like the feel, and I gauge check all of them, I'm right. The ones that I thought were good were, and the one that sounded a little low was.Hammer166 Thanks this.

I don't know how anyone can feel with a kick.
I use a 3 pound hammer in the middle of the tread. Those superwides are very hard to tell. I have to look for bulging under load. The hammer struggles till they're 60 psi low. -
If you've been doing this long enough and wear steel toe boots,it worked for me.
And if unsure,I'll kick it from the side with my sole.
But having said that, I use a hammer these days.
I found kicking tires all these years,it now hurts my knees. LolBean Jr. Thanks this.
