I’ll definitely look into it. I actually was thinking of getting my hazmat and driving a tanker for fuel.
I was actually wondering which one would pay more LTL locally or tanker locally. I’d like to be home daily

Caution: The CDL drivers' job market is REALLY TIGHT right now.
It's anyone's guess when things will really improve.
Depending on how bad it is/gets when you finally have your CDL -- you may have to drive some OTR before a local job opens up.
Fuel haulers usually want AT LEAST 2 years of CDL experience elsewhere -- before they will look at you.
As a fuel hauler -- I could easily see why they would want previous experience. Fuel is NOT a good place to learn how to drive a big rig!
In my opinion -- if you go tanker -- that will set you up later for more recession-resistant freight -- & you will also avoid most of the hassles & headaches of delivering food/reefer loads.
In the meantime -- keep your driving & criminal record squeaky clean.
Later on -- you'll be glad you did...

I drive for J Rayl out of the Sunnyvale (Dallas) terminal. We have a Houston yard. I started driving for them right after getting my Class A CDL (after 20 years of driving buses with a Class B),, and I thought I’d stay here for a year and then find a better job. Well, I’m still here five years later, and I expect to be here for many more. Good folks.

Why wait to go ltl. Many offer in house training or tuition reimbursement. ABF suspended their program due to the influx of YRC drivers but OD, fed ex, xpo still have them. Might have to be a dock worker for a few months to qualify.
