Its sure funny that i have friends that drive Cali only, and have for years. But they never get screwed with for idle laws, story sounds like b.s to me. I have never had problems there. If you don't like it, or want to make crap like this up, just stay out of this state. Ill take all the loads out of here and feed the midwest all winter.

Yes, some trucks can lose a lot of pressure in less than a few hours. But if it is taking more than about 5 minutes or so to rebuild up, there is an equipment issue that needs to be checked out.

Of course it doesnt take 9 minutes to build air. But every one of us would use that same excuse to get out of a $300 fine.

Yeah, ours had an air leak recently. Until we were able to get it fixed, it took quite awhile to build pressure back after it was shut down for a few hours. Not 9 minutes, but about 5-6 probably.

It's not BS, I watched it happen at the Pee Lot in Hesperia, but they had a couple of CHP officers to back them up while they did their deeds. Which also included writing up "old" out of date reefer units.

Really, people don't have to make up lies about California, and please feel free to run as much freight in and out of that state.

I doubt he'll be able to make a point - if it is like nearly all other government regulations, they only impose the restrictions on the peons paying their salary while exempting themselves. (heathcare comes to mind):biggrin_2551:

It's possible it takes 9 minutes to build up air.
The requirement is that the tanks have to build up 20psi in under a minute. AT OPERATING SPEED.

    Which is about 4x idle.

(Okay it's been a while since I've had to quote chapter & verse, but if the cop's p/o'd that your idling for 9 minutes, how's he going to like you sitting there at WOT for 4?)

I want to know why nascar is legal. Clearly a nascar race puts out way more emissions than trucks. Think about it. Cars are basically doing WOT the whole time at high revs (the cars are geared differently for each course so they're always achieving maximum power....), they have no emissions systems at all, not even a mufler (theyre race cars...)....they arent going anywhere....that's idling.

    truckerdave1970 Thanks this.
