how bout a log home i took up to NC, right off the Blue Ridge Parkway, had to take a us route off 77, then had to turnaround in a historical park, then i told the next guy about the fun the park was not easy to turn around, and i got all kinds of weird looks form everybody. I also had a 1600ish mile load of a empty container form KC to Kent WA, gota love Schneider

The weidest place i ever delivered to was a dollar general store in Pennville, NJ. Easiest back-in unloading area i have ever seen (lift gate delivery but still) OMG talk about weird.

Seriously though, i had a 53' trailer with 4 pallets in it that went to a Staples store. We didnt think much of it until we were on the road it was on, looking for it, and noticed a sign .. "FUTURE STAPLES STORE!" and realized the store hadnt been built yet. The dock hadnt been built yet.

First of all, the front of the store was never designed for a truck to be in. But the pavement in the back hadnt been laid yet. And why the heck are we using a 53' with 4 pallets?

And the guy thought we'd have a pallet jack with us. Had to be dragged off the truck with chain and a forklift.

I know the place you speak of. If I never have to go back there again it will be entirely way to soon. I love the ramp going out of the place. :biggrin_2556:

By your weird standards (and these did make me stop and think)

Pallets...to canada. Don't they make their own?

DVDs that are going to be in special K cereal, made in the US, shipped to canada to be shrinkwrapped, shipped back to go in the cereal. wtf?

Truckload of Miller/Coors beer to washington DC. The president needed a drink?

Any dollar general store not originally built as a dollar general. Dollar general builds nice easy story delivery areas, where you just back in off the street and straightline all the way back, nice and wide....but most of them are in really old buildings that were never intended to have 53 footers in them.

And the best part: Dollar general has a lot of 40' trailers. But noo, a 53' holds more. AND THE 40 FOOTERS ARE STILL TOO DARN BIG! WTF?

Kind of sad when you have a hard time backing a 40 footer into a place. And then they expect someone to get a 53 footer in there, no problem....

I delivered to one store that was a front door delivery. But i got there late, got there at 5pm. I was only supppposed to deliver real early in the morning right when they opened, but i calld them and they said they wanted it NOW!! ....apparently they have a dock but i was told it was not safe to get the truck back there. I wonder what it looked like...
