Over 40 years on the other side of the picture.
Probably hired my first driver before many on here were born.
We didn't have the internet, hirerite/DAC, etc. BUT we did pick up the phone and call.
One quickly develops the talent to be suspicous of BS when talking directly to the past few employers and my boss, the general manager of the whole place was the expert.
He would hear the driver's interview along with my side of the conversations with the previous companies and when his 'sixth sense' was ringing would accurately predict how long this guy would last.
After a few hundred hires, you have heard it all; NOTHING comes as a surprise.
Remember 'like' companies, everything from tank yankers, port truckers, flatbedders, et all; are really smaller groups with a likelyhood of various intermingled management employees so somebody here usually knows somebody there and they talk.
I've had various instances where the owner/president, usually acompanied by someone from sales or maintenance inquired if there was an app from XXXX and if there was; it is dead.......
Once and done OP was ringing alarm bells from the start

You're absolutely right to be concerned. I had a issue come up, I knew thus was happening. Long story short...the company that was assassinating my chances of getting hired gave me an opportunity to put them on blast. The company I wanted to hire me wouldn't say who was doing this but I knew, so I told them, hey if I'm so bad and such a horrible driver why would the company hire ne back, agreed they wouldn't. So I went to the company I knew was doing this I BOOM they hired me back pending a truck test, so I took the drug test...3 days later I got the call. So I went back to the company I was wanting to hire me and called the other on speaker and yep the company that was saying I was such a horrible employee was happy to say I passed the drug test so hurry in and pick my truck, they can't wait to get me back to work. These foreign companys do not like Americans at all. I know it's hard to avoid them cause they are huge companies and many of them but try to get into an American owned comoany...you'll be happier in the long run

With this huge influx of these companies owned by foreign nationals I wouldn't be surprised. I've seen their ads. They all offer these unusually high mileage rates or weekly settlements.
Once again if it sounds to good to be true more times than not it is or you practically sell your soul for it.
Screw that crap. I'd sooner work at a convenience storeREO6205 Thanks this.
