Yep, maupiin was tight. The switchbacks into and out of town are bad enough, but the real issue is the bridge in center of town that crosses the Deschutes river. It is a very narrow 2 laner, and for laughs, it curves tightly. I got lucky and hit no traffic, but if there is traffic on that bridge it's gonna get interesting. Pretty drive tho.
Thsnks everyone!

It's illegal to go through Maupin if over 60ft. You can be ticketed by the sheriff. When you're on I-84 take US-97 instead.
I ended up near Maupin and turned around in DOT yard and went all the way back to 84.
The reasoning its prohibited is because of a very narrow bridge and other very tight curves. -
Since the OP asked the question in 2018, hopefully he is not still sitting, waiting on an answer.

Definitely not but I found this thread when searching for a way to Bend, Oregon from Eugene during very snowy weather. In order to avoid passes the GPS suggests this way to save time but when you get near the city mentioned there are restrictions. Hopefully this will help others who Google search as the restrictions are signs only on the way and not on the ODOT website
