Job Offer from Windy Hill Foliage Today!

I have another one for you, Florida Beauty Flora Transport ( floridabeauty.com ), sounds like a Florida company, I applied and talked to them before when I just started school, and I think they haul flowers, the more you stay out, the more home time you get. After looking at the reviews for Cypress Truck, Maverick and even Windy Hill, I'm scared of going to them, I know I'm a review guy, I let reviews dictate my decision a lot, but I can't help it lol, so what do you think, I think getting in with a Florida base company would best, they can get me home faster when I want to be home.

 

Cypress is a solid company, I only worked there a year in their dump division, I’m not a newbie though, 20 years out here. They take care of their equipment, have a good safety environment, and a good training program from what I could tell. I went back with a previous employer and have been here 11 years, but I had no red flags or complaints with cypress.

 

Thanks, bro, I'm a heavily review base guy, so I mostly look at the bad ones to weigh in if I want to join a company or not.

 

Given the present market, & your present location -- I would submit a FULL application to any that you are interested in -- then take whatever offer you can later get. Maverick is NOT a Florida-based company, so (per your above post) that rules them out (& they aren't hiring that far south, anyway). The market is simply too bad now for you to really "cherry pick" (which you are clearly attempting).

If you base your decisions mainly off of reviews posted by others (mostly whiners ) -- you will probably never make the jump, and take that first trucking job.

To be blunt -- trucking is NOT for those who are easily intimidated, anyway.

With trucking companies, you can't pay attention to reviews. Each company will have good and bad reviews. There will be more bad reviews because this industry is full of crybabies believe it or not. Many truckers whine about everything. Stay on here long enough and that observation will reveal itself. Trucking companies are pretty much the same at their core. One driver's bad review won't dictate your experience there. No matter where you go to work, it's all about what you put into it. If you can figure out that companies freight lanes, tendencies, and how they do business, you'll be successful. No 2 drivers have the same story. Where I work now, previous drivers have complained of racism and favoritism. I've seen no evidence of racism in the 4 years I've driven for them. As far as favoritism, of course dispatch has favorites. They are gonna always take care of their highest performing drivers. The ones who are reliable and available to run miles will be any company's favorite.

 

Yeah, I get what you're saying man, when I see a company I want to work for, I can't help but look at their reviews, I come from the tech industry and that's how we check companies there, I'll do my best to not let that affect me much.

 

It’s going okay, my driver trainer and I️ are headed to Virginia then Baltimore then to Wisconsin. Also I️ wasn’t made aware, but when you get training from Windy Hill they lock you into a year contract & it’s $2500 to buy out the contract. Idk why I️ didn’t pay attention to that. But oh well. Besides that everything is good so far.

 

WTH!! You mean if you got your CDL with them right? What if you already have your CDL?
