Just think these officers would be better off working as Border control officers for CBP where they can legally stop a vehicle crossing the international border and search it for anything illegal.

If I read the article correctly, the cop said the driver logged "770 miles in exactly 11 hours," and then the cop demonstrates his mathematical prowess by figuring that the driver would've had to "average 77 MPH" to accomplish that feat.

Even the 70 mph average is an issue in most states. CVSA criteria considers any average speed greater that 5 mph under the speed limit to be falsification.
And yes, I am well aware that many of us average right at the limit, especially when deadheading.InTooDeep, HighWayMan501 and bzinger Thank this. -
And IIRC it took legislation to get them under the Iowa State Patrol banner, and now they can legally harass 4 wheelers again.bzinger Thanks this.
