Had a set of springs on my 03 Pete. 379.
And had a twisting motion after my muddy boots slipped off clutch and truck jumped loaded.
So I took it to Springville utah peterbilt told them what I did.
Asked them to check engine mounts.
Got no engine mounts got new springs, now my front end is to high looks terriable.
Can I get a lighter springs, don't know if it had lighter springs before or not.
Turned out to be engine mounts. Can I put lighter springs .If so is it OK to do.
    Any advice would be appreciated

Lighter springs would affect the weight capacity of the steer axle assembly and I would not go that route. If its got spacer blocks between the spring and axle I'd chuck those or go with shorter blocks depending on the look you're going for. Might need alignment checked afterwards as steering geometry might change. Might affect your driveline angles too, not 100% sure on that one.

So let's get this straight, you told them to check the motor mounts and they changed the springs?

    Why?

WHY did you allow them to change the springs?

    First, how high is it?

    4"?

    6"?

If these are new springs, it takes time for them to settle a bit.

Second, did they document what you wanted and document what they found?

Third, did they do an alignment to the truck after the springs were replaced?

I would at least make a complaint to the state if they didn't do the work you told them to do, it sounds like they padded the bill.

Had a front main spring break at the rear by the shackle few years ago. Went to KW dealer here and was told the spring for my truck was no longer available and has been replaced with a newer spring with 1 more leaf than the original. Is it possible your truck had a set of updated springs installed…?

Take it back to the shop and complain or use a good spring shop. Point Spring or Stengle Brothers are both great places for suspension and driveline work.

They probably typed in your VIN and put everything back to how it left the factory. I’m guessing somewhere along the line in the last 20 years that someone took the blocks out of the front to static drop it. Then when the looked up the parts that were needed they put the blocks back in.

I actually trusted this service writer.
Have done work with him mutiable times and was satisfied.
I don't know what the heck happened.
Was so mad I couldn't get mad.
I used to ride 4 inch above tire looked good.
But its about 6 high looks odd to me.
    I'm ok with it I guess .
Thanks for the feed back for sure.

Local to me growing up old timey spring shop [long gone now] would re-arch and re-temper both springs after repairing a broken leaf.

It was noticible, for a while.

Who else remembers repairing, not replacing, springs, radiator and heater cores, starters and generator....er. alternators?

I surely do, the last real spring guy I knew passed in 1990 at 42, he knew his stuff, and he could fix anything with any type of spring used. He would take a dragging car (he specialized in Mopar and Novas) and fix it as it should be. I have a 1975 Dodge pickup and it was dropped on the right side by the previous owner overloading the truck and letting it sit for three months. When I talked to him, he said I didn't need to replace anything, he would have it fixed in one day, and he did. The cost was $75
