Terminated during training hitting curb and got sent homeAnother Canadian driver Thanks this.

I’m thinking there’s more to what you’re stating..reason is I don’t think most carriers would refuse to hire you for hitting a curb, especially since western express wont hire you when they’ll hire anyone literally…what all did you hit besides a curb?…or was it something else..just doesn’t add up

just a curb during my cdl test - got sent home for that. That’s itAnother Canadian driver Thanks this.

Did you have a training contract with TMC that you have to pay off? This is the only thing that I can think of as too why no one will touch you..
I mean really, we’ve all curbed a trailer tire at some point. Did you destroy a wheel , cut a tire?
Once you do find a job learn from the TMC experience. Going up on a curb with a heavy load in the trailer is a great way to destroy one or two wheels and possibly the tires.
I’ve seen it happen more times than I can count. Don’t just try powering through if you get into the situation again. Stop and think about how you can get out of the situation without damaging anything.
Good luckAnother Canadian driver and LiveStrong101 Thank this. -
Thank you for your helpful tip and instructions. To clarify what happened , I went to TMC and completed their training but on my test day to get my cdl, I hit a curb turning right on a very tight turn. I didn’t damaged anything but just knicked a curb , but they still failed me. I was told I had to go home. PA is my home state, I took my road test again in PA and passed. TMC just has it as terminated on my job history with them. The contract would have started or went into action if I had of passed their road test.Last edited: Dec 28, 2023
Another Canadian driver and Concorde Thank this. -
You're better off. Any company that would terminate a newbie for curbing a tire is a BS company.
Freddy57, Another Canadian driver, snowlauncher and 3 others Thank this. -
Plenty of us flunked our first try at the road test. Has TMC said why they won't continue with you, now that you passed and have your CDL?
Another Canadian driver and Opus Thank this. -
Since I got sent home , they can’t bring me back unless I have 3 months of experience. I’m not trying to work for themAnother Canadian driver Thanks this.

Maybe it’s a blessing in disguise. I imagine most get drawn to them by the shiny trucks however..those shiny trucks are slow as fluff!
Speaking of TMC there’s a couple training here at the Petro in Columbia, SC.Another Canadian driver and Opus Thank this.
