Happens more than you think.
Local tanker used to make 'rain' for commercials 'N such.
NYPD directs him where to park.
When it was time to spray the rain, driver was told to 'back down this street' and when he said he would be damaging all those car mirrors..."I Said back down here"...OK.
Crunch, Crunch,Crunch...
First time I heard this was Avenue E in Bayonne in 1977 over the hood of a new caddy too.

If you're gonna park illegally, at least be a little more calculated. Lol....don't park illegally and go home for several days. You dodged a serious bullet there.

I’m going to take some umbrage with everyone jumping on the OP and defend him on one aspect. Yeah, you screwed up and did something really dumb by parking long term and unattended. You deserve a ticket/tow etc. However, them bringing the DOT out and running an inspection was petty and ridiculous. That DOT cop should be out pulling over all the shoddy Amazon rolling junk piles, hot shots, and white Volvo/freightliner mafia with Illinois or New Jersey registration as opposed to screwing with an unattended unauthorized parked truck in a truck stop.
Neverquittrucking228, blairandgretchen, snowlauncher and 1 other person Thank this. -
they did the right thing to do a level 3.
With the amount of crap being pulled by owners with permits and paper work on a truck, this was a normal check, it seems the cops were dealing with an issue with a commercial vehicle.
If they did a level 1, then that was going too far, but checking the registration and insurance is the right thing to do. -

Or if it happened in Kansas then the sheriff could do an inspection if they’ve been trained. Definitely not enough details in his story to come to the conclusion that they chose to send someone who can do an inspection simply to try and write a ticket. Or maybe they did because they wanted to put the violation on an inspection report so that the company would be aware for sure even though they called the company. It doesn’t really matter. At the end of the day he’s still pretty lucky that he had the chance to move the truck. The reality is it should’ve just been towed and impounded for parking in a no parking zone and going to the house.buddyd157 Thanks this. -
Point taken. Creeper cop and LEO may have been one in the same. Still, inspect the bad actors on the road before wasting time with a guy who may have been dumb but was parked

yeah every time I hear that story it’s a little different . but the constant is that the cop left a parking ticket on the trashed car.Lonesome Thanks this.
