Problem solved !
We will see. Not all the parts are overpriced, just the joints, the big one by $90 x 3, the small ones by 40x 2, and the input shaft yoke , they’re asking over 430, and I can buy it with 260.
These are same brand same name same thing, ok. We’re not talking aftermarket .Last edited: Dec 30, 2023

If you stressed over a 'nothing' issue as this, how you handle real big deals?dunchues, NightWind, Vampire and 1 other person Thank this. -
Parts supplier won't because they didn't do the work. Mechanic won't because they didn't supply the part.
That is a lot of extra time for the shop doing the work to have a service bay occupied for you to run and get parts. That is very nice of them to let you do it.
Good luck -
$100 says the shop will run into “problems” replacing the yolks so they can pad their labor time since he’s complaining about markups on the u joints anyway. It’s all going to be a lot of wasted time to come out a wash at the end.

This whole topic has gone to hell in a hand basket. The guy is cheap can't blame him for trying but he's defeating himself. I say let him do it HIS way and don't try to educate him. He has to learn the HARD way and I am outta here.

To be fair I had to learn this same **** that way too. Lesson I took there was learn how to DIY everything possible. Obviously some things are not DIY. Gonna have to pay somebody to get new yokes welded on or maybe just buy a new shaft but there's a LOT $$$ to be saved in all the labor dropping the shafts out and reinstalling with new u-joints and it can be done in the driveway with basic hand tools by a layman.
