This is the estimate receipt , didn’t want to include personal info, so it’s only the charges and total..

And these are some of the parts I’ve purchased, and tomorrow I’ll get the rest
Look at the part number, look at the $$$, and then you’ll see the savings is actually more than 500. I mean the 1708221x alone is over $200 savings. And it’s OEM. I’ll take picture with box and all that.
I guess some businesses are happy to get rid off their inventory, and others…just want an arm and a leg.

You do realize that supplying your own parts that the shop will not warranty all this right?

Yes, they did mention that. But for well over $1000 less in parts, I’ll take it. I know they’re OEM. I didn’t save by purchasing aftermarket parts.

Even if you buy from the dealer OEM, they’ll not do warranty, I guess it’s a scam to pull something like that, because, dealer, and all these other vendors get their parts same origin, whatever ….

I don’t know what happened here.
They did that already, last week. I mean it was outside when they called me with the quote, and ask me to come by, and they said you can think, and get back to us what you want to do. By the way, your truck its outside, so it’s not blocking anything…

I never did it, although I do stuff around the truck, like AC, or Alternator, Exhaust , I never touched the drive shaft, I do grease it in between oil change, but it’s above my pay grade, it needs to be cut and welded, not just joints …
Even my mechanic will not do that, because he doesn’t cut&weld driveshafts, plus they need to be balanced. Not every shop does that.

a chopsaw, lag bolts, and an 8 foot 4x4 post = problem solved. Might use pressure treated if you run a lot of wet areas. Probably holds up to salt better.

Probably the markup on parts because labor is still only $125 an hour…

8 hour job turned into a week over ~$500……
